Small space sledding

The effectiveness of exercise sleds for rehabilitation, strength, cardio and hybrid training is second to none.

To do it at home you need a sled that works in small spaces.

There is just one problem.

NORMAL SLEDS JUST DON'T WORK AT HOME

  • They lift off the ground if you stand too close
  • They have to be constantly turned around
  • They only work with Olympic weights

WonderSled's central anchors mean that there is no minimum distance required to keep the sled on the ground. and there is no need to turn the sled around

WonderSled takes anything as weight - sand bags (about £3 for 20kg), water bottles, bricks etc.

    Surface

Sled dragging is ultimately about friction, the higher the friction the less weight you need.  Too much friction will cause the sled to stick to the surface and interfere with the exercise not enough will mean additional weight is needed to compensate.

The most common surfaces used in gyms are purpose built sled tracks made of needle-punched polypropylene.  Obviously this is impractical for home use as it needs to be properly laid and fixed down.

What you need is a surface that is super hard wearing, stable enough to support high friction and portable.  The best solution is Tatami style jigsaw martial arts mats.  Their rubber material and textured surface make for a very high friction surface while the construction designed for martial arts makes then easily strong enough to stand repeated use.

The use of Tatami mats increases friction by about 25% compared to carpet or polypropylene meaning you will need 25% less weight compared to carpets and rugs.
